I have always been infatuated with penmanship.
I was taught cursive at an early age in catholic school and lived by three trusty tools: black ink, red ink, and a ruler. Really, I had no other choice. Sister Marie would have publicly humiliated me had I diagrammed my sentence using a purple gel pen. I was okay with the rules, though, and enjoyed perfecting every single page of my black and white composition notebook. By the end of eighth grade, I had earned three highly coveted (or maybe not) perfect penmanship awards.
Later, in college, I developed a passion for mail art. This is where my perfect penmanship paid off. Hours from home, I missed my family terribly, and so my mother (an incredible artist) and I began our mail affair. At first, we would send each other letters with somewhat elaborate envelopes, but by the end of my first year, it became a contest to see who had the best envelope design. We spent so much time on the outer appearance that we rarely even included a letter before sending it off. I had found my calling.
I believe that design is in the details and that no invitation is truly complete without a perfectly penned address. In a digital world, it is refreshing and exciting to receive personalized mail in hand.
